Special Effects for Photographers

After I take pictures, I love spending time with them to enhance them and make them beautiful pieces of art. One of my favorite actions is a Color Pop by NicholeV. She also offers some great educational material that I hope to win :) or at least purchase sometime in the future. She is also an amazing photographer! So my photographer friends, you should definitely check out her stuff for inspiration!

Palmer Wedding

Kelly is a friend of mine from high school and she asked me before I had ever even photographed a wedding to be her photographer. I appreciate to this day her trust and faith in me. I can honestly say it would be very hard for me to hire a wedding photographer for my own wedding who had never shot a wedding... so, I really cannot thank her enough for taking that leap of faith. Fortunately for her, even though she was the first to ask, I was able to shot a few first. =)

The day turned out to be beautiful with a little rain. There was a short sprinkle during the ceremony and it started to pour towards the end of our session before the reception. The reception hall at Elk's Lodge in Chillicothe was beautiful! It had these amazing stain glass windows all along the sides and beautiful hardwood floors. Williams Catering from Waverly did an amazing job with the catering and decorating. SugDog provided the fun music and Hailey Zimmerman did a wonderful job with the hair and makeup.

Here are a few of my favorite images from the day:

The Parks Family

Again, another session of a family from school. I taught Evan Kindergarten Enrichment last year and I have his brother this year. They are such a wonderful and fun family and I enjoyed my Wednesday evening with them at a local park.

Zoe and Leah

I had such a fun Saturday morning with Zoe and Leah for their session. I am Zoe's teacher and have known the family for a couple of years now. I felt so bad when her little sister started crying but with some easing and time, she brought out the biggest smile when I held up the camera... it was incredible!

Jade and Raf's Maternity Session

Jade is one of the nicest, sweetest persons I have ever known and I have known her since junior high. It was such a privilege to capture this very special time for this wonderful couple. I have to say I was more nervous during this shoot than any other since her due date was bumped up and she was pretty much on bed rest. I was so worried about wearing her out or pushing her too much and despite the heat, she stayed incredibly positive. Here are a few of their pics:

Really??....

It's been 3 months since my last post! Wow... Sorry guys. Let me dig through my pics and upload some sessions.

The Webb's

A couple of weekends I was a bit nervous as I spent the morning with my boss and her family. Her oldest son is in my class and he is a wonderful kid and his little brother is just adorable and fun. The session went really well and I was surprised at how excited and ready the boys were about getting their pictures taken. I knew they were into Star Wars so throughout the session I had them saying names from the episodes but the best was when I asked them to say "Princess Leia". They looked at each other and made this face like "eeeew" and shook their heads. It was hilarious.

Here are a few pictures from their session:

The Shepherd's

One of the sweetest girls I went to high school with is having her first baby and I had the awesome opportunity to capture that precious and beautiful baby bump! The evening was HOT and sunny, but Billy and Joel are so photogenic and awesome troopers. Here are a few of there pictures:

The Riley's

A Saturday a few weeks ago I had the pleasure and joy of spending time with the Riley family. The sky was a little threatening but it turned out to be perfect cloud coverage. Throw in a 3 year old, 6 month old and a HUGE dog and it makes for some challenges but great results! Here are a few from there session:

Not again...

I have been blessed with lots of photo sessions and it has been so much fun. Unfortunately, after a few months of having my energy back and getting lots of things done, I have been fighting my allergies and sinuses again for the past month. Which means as soon as I get home from my day job and get what I can done from the sessions, its straight to bed. That means all the additional stuff, like posting on my blog and updating my Facebook page come last.

So again, I have several sessions I would love to share so I will make a new post for each. =)

My Sister's Wedding

On Friday my beautiful sister married a handsome marine. Remember the post of us driving through the woods? Well, we decided to take pictures at a park closer to home and then a few more at the cabin, lol. I am really excited about how they turned out. You can check out more on my facebook fanpage here.

One day. Two incredibly great families!

Last month I had the pleasure and opportunity to capture images for two wonderful families! Here are just a few images from those two sessions.

We had just put this little guy in the swing and gave him one push. This was the only picture I got because he started screaming almost immediately! As sad as it is, it is hysterical.

Great Day for the Ride of Your Life!

Today my sister and I took a lovely trip out to Hocking Hills to scope out the location of her wedding and nearby areas for pictures. After driving through some questionable areas and checking out a park with a very dry lake, we decided to head to Old Man's Cave. We finally found the address on the GPS, popped it on the window and followed our "trusty" friend. We took the road off the highway onto a much smaller back-road... okay, I use to live in the country, a lane and a half road does not bother me too much. But then the road seemed to disappear into what looked like a dirt driveway but the thing told us to go straight. I followed it for a minute and quickly regretted it as we came to a washed out part of the road. I squeezed my car to the side where it was much drier and we cringed as mud splashed up. I mentioned something about turning around but there was no possible way. This "road" was barely wide enough for me to drive on, not to mention to turn around on with the solid woods and cliffs on either side. We kept driving and laughing and nearly crying at the same time as we came to each mini pond and rut in the road. I kept saying that if we were going to die, no one would ever find us in these massive woods and there was not a house in site. There was literally no sign of human life! I clinched on to the steering wheel so hard and prayed at every turn that my little car would make it through the mud and over the holes. At one point we even saw a license plate hanging in a tree! Talk about scary!

Finally, the GPS told us we were coming to the end of the road and we saw a break in the trees and screamed "A REAL ROAD!" at the same time. And the weirdest part of it all, there was actually a stop sign at the end of this thing!! I wish I had taken pictures and had a video of it. I am sure it would be hysterical to listen to us scream every time we came to a plunge and talked about how our lives could so easily end on this desolate path. We were also pretty ticked off that it was considered a road and that it was carried into GPS space! For goodness sakes, the road I live on does not even show up on maps! But we made it through and we made sure the "highway only" box was checked on our trip back home.

But we have a terribly scary story that we will never forget and laugh at until the day we die (which will, Lord willing, be many years later and not today, thank God!) and it was actually a beautiful day for the beautiful country drive... even the scary parts.

I do have one picture to show. This was taken by my sister with her cell phone and it is actually probably one of the past parts of the whole drive.

And I got a couple afterwards of the mud and scratches on my car from the trees.

Info for fellow photographers

Last week I came across a forum and someone mentioned this software for studio management. I have been wanting for a long time something that I could organize everything into and have all of the information I need like names, addresses, birthdays, anniversaries, invoices, etc etc. Well... I found it! This is a free software and honestly, I cannot believe it is! I even ran a Malware scan just in case and it came out clean! LoL. Anyway, this program is just absolutely amazing and I recommend it to anyone who is just starting out and looking to get organized. Already established? You can import all your information into this thing. It's incredible! I cannot explain how excited I am about it except to just keep going on and on about all the things it can do but you just need to check it out yourself!

Michelle and Tim's Wedding

Yesterday I had the wonderful pleasure and opportunity of capturing my good friend Tim's wedding! Michelle looked radiant and the love they have for each other was unmistakable. Their wedding was so beautiful and so much fun!

This was the second wedding that I have been blessed to capture and as with everything there were new challenges and exciting photo opportunities! My favorite was this modern cafe in the church and the reception was incredible with the low lights and colored stage lights from the DJ. They DJ's had everyone dancing and having a great time!

The Ceremony was performed at Grace Fellowship Church, DJ services were provided by The Dream Chasers, flowers were from Kroger. The most AMAZING cheesecake was made by a friend of theirs as well as the delicious food catered by friends.

Here are a few pictures!
