Playing with camera settings

When I took this picture of the kitten, I was playing around with my exposure settings. Even though it is over exposed, I love how it turned out!

Editing still

Okay, so I posted this picture a couple of days ago but a flickr-ite suggested removing a spike that I did not even notice!! So I did some photoshop, took out the spike, smoothed out the area and took out the distracting dark spot (it was really distracting, just as bad, if not worse, then the spike... at least knowing it was there).

I know the picture is on the lighter side, but I actually like that for this one--I think it accentuates the beautiful lines of Kristin's facial structure. So... here it is.

Same picture, edited again...

and you know... comparing the two, I do like the crop, I wasn't sure at first, but it definitely makes her the main focus in the picture, which is the goal of course!

Still playing with photoshop...

Here's another picture from bowling last Friday night that I edited in photoshop... I wanted to create a kind of retro feel.

Playing with Photoshop

I was playing around with photoshop a little bit after reading a book I got from the library. Here is one of the images I took of Kristin and used the Shoebox filter from Adobe Elements 7. I really like the result.

Columbus Auto Show

Last night we went to the Columbus Auto Show. I was a little disappointed they did not have the car I reeally wanted to see, but I enjoyed taking some pictures, anyhow. I also had fun taking pictures in mirrors or the incredibly reflective surfaces of the backs of the side mirrors.

Beautiful Day for pictures!

Yesterday was such a beautiful, comfortable day I HAD to get pictures!! So I called up a great friend of mine and asked if she was going out to the barn where she helps take care of the horses because if she was, I was interested in meeting her there and taking pictures. She was all for it and brought her camera along as well! I got some great shots! I posted these two on flickr and after I sort through them a little more I am going to make an album in my shutterfly account.

Unfortunately, the warm weather has left and we're in moderately satisfactory weather. But I can't wait for flowers to start blooming and leaves to start growing and seeing life! I'm getting cabin fever!

Oh, I also got some pictures of the geese by our pond before I went to the barn. This is the picture I posted on flickr but will let you know when I get more posted somewhere. =)

Zoey's 1!

Today I had the pleasure of meeting my best friend from grade school's little girl at her one year birthday party! She is such a sweet little girl and I had so much fun getting pictures of her enjoying her first birthday cake! It was also so nice to meet up with a friend I have not seen in so many years!

Reviews Are In!!

Well, at least the book is!! And I'm pretty pleased with it! I'm glad we went with the small size (7x7) b/c it will be easy to tote around and whip out when anyone is interested in seeing my work. I took some pictures of it. =)

One more day!

My book is coming in tomorrow and I am super super excited!! I keep wanting to open the program and kind of look through it again... but I think it will be better if I wait... I haven't seen it in about a week so I think it will be like looking at it for the first time, and published! I will let you know how it turns out!

My Book!

Sooo!! I got the email confirmation that my book is on its way! Yay!! I can't wait to see how it turns out! It should be in by Friday! =D

Recess

By day I am a preschool teacher. I have taken my camera in a couple of times to take pictures of the kids for projects but will take it outside to get pictures of the kids playing. Our playground has a tunnel with three little holes and it is so cute when those holes are filled with three little faces, so, I of course, captured that. Well, all of that was at least a month ago and today while playing on the playground one of the little boys, while sticking his head in one of those holes said, "Ms. Tygre! Ms. Tygre! Take a picture!" I had to tell him I did not have my camera but it is good to know I am making a good influence! *laugh*

I would LOVE to post some of those pictures, I just will not because I do not have permission from the parents.

Arnold Classic

Yesterday I helped out with the VIP and Winner photo session with Arnold at the Arnold Classic. It was a whole lot of fun! I learned how to set up lights and a backdrop and of course get a picture with Arnold! It's a scan of a polariod... so the quality is not that great, but I have a picture!! I got a few neat shots afterwards as well.

PhotoShoot Downtown

Yesterday my stepsister and I went downtown to get some pictures in this lovely red dress she had purchased awhile back but has yet to wear! Despite the wind and a little late start out there, we got some GREAT pictures!! (When we were looking through them later she said she has never had so many pictures turn out so well! That boosted my ego a little! *laugh*)

But this photo shoot was a great learning experience... I learned, go a little earlier, get some reflecters to bounce light back into her eyes, and do a little more research on the area and poses. But that's why I did it!

Here is one of our favorites from the shoot!

Something new

Sooo.... I thought maybe I should start a blog. As some doors begin to open up concerning my photography business, I thought it might not be a bad idea. For one, I want to shout to the world my enthusiasm and excitement, and secondly, if this goes the way it might be headed, I might be able to share some fun adventures!

And for starters, this weekend I will be helping at the Arnold Classic. I am SO incredibly excited!! I get to assist a seasoned photographer AND be in the same room as Arnold Swarchenegger for several hours!!

Additionally, this same photographer is going to start giving me some formal training so I can improve my photography skills. So excited!!

And finally, I have a book that is being made right now! It is my first portfolio. You can see a sneak peek here. ;)
