Another Book!

I just created and published a new book! After deciding to start my photography business, I published a book with Blurb.com for my portfolio. Because I was just starting out I did not have a lot of portraits to add to the book, so I dug through years of photos for something...anything! Back in March it was my goal to create another book just of portraits and today I completed that goal! I feel very blessed to have a great first year and to be able to share special moments and fill a book with these beautiful people! You can see a preview by clicking on the following badge!

4th of July Weekend

I apologize I have not posted in so long! But I had some free time to go through some pictures I took the 4th of July weekend. My best friend came up to visit with her mom who was in the country. We took them to a few places around town but my friend is incredibly photogenic that the trips turned into photo shoots. Here are a few of those pics. =)

Back from Vacation

Well, I got back from Mrytle Beach on Tuesday evening. It was a wonderful, much much needed mini vacation and I was not too excited to get back home. I did miss my other half, though, and my grandmother from Bermuda flew in just after me! I had yesterday off so we spent the day together. She went with me to check out a park for photo sessions (we were planning on visiting three, but the first one we went to was so incredible, we spent so much time there that we did not have time to stop anywhere else... it was BEAUTIFUL!)So, I am just now uploading the 2000 pictures I took while in Mrytle Beach and trying to go through them to post them online as I had two photo sessions down there. But my eyes are starting to burn and I am feeling incredibly tired so we shall see how much I get accomplished tonight. Here are a few pictures in the meantime, though. =)

Hello from Mrytle Beach!

Hi, everyone! I am very very sleepy and very very red! But, I just had to post at least one picture of my mom and her boyfriend that I took earlier today. There are a lot of really great ones so look for more to come!

My first maternity shoot!

So as I said in my last post, today was my first maternity shoot! I have been so excited about it that it was not until this morning when I realized, "Holy crap! This has got to be one of the hardest shoots to start with." As I was doing research this week, I noticed there was not a whole lot out there for maternity shoots. I found a few unique poses, but nothing like you find for portraits. So, with my limited equipment and a few borrowed things from my Nana, I traveled 2 hours to do the shoot in their home. I got to use my 5-in-1 reflector and I was amazed at what a difference it made!

Anyway, it's getting late but I wanted to post a few pics tonight.

What could be more exciting then visiting family and old friends? Taking pictures of the kids hunting Easter eggs!! Here a few pictures I captured yesterday...

Okay, so I posted this picture a couple of days ago but a flickr-ite suggested removing a spike that I did not even notice!! So I did some photoshop, took out the spike, smoothed out the area and took out the distracting dark spot (it was really distracting, just as bad, if not worse, then the spike... at least knowing it was there).


I know the picture is on the lighter side, but I actually like that for this one--I think it accentuates the beautiful lines of Kristin's facial structure. So... here it is.



and you know... comparing the two, I do like the crop, I wasn't sure at first, but it definitely makes her the main focus in the picture, which is the goal of course!

Playing with Photoshop

I was playing around with photoshop a little bit after reading a book I got from the library. Here is one of the images I took of Kristin and used the Shoebox filter from Adobe Elements 7. I really like the result.

PhotoShoot Downtown

Yesterday my stepsister and I went downtown to get some pictures in this lovely red dress she had purchased awhile back but has yet to wear! Despite the wind and a little late start out there, we got some GREAT pictures!! (When we were looking through them later she said she has never had so many pictures turn out so well! That boosted my ego a little! *laugh*)

But this photo shoot was a great learning experience... I learned, go a little earlier, get some reflecters to bounce light back into her eyes, and do a little more research on the area and poses. But that's why I did it!
